ChatGPT

Connect ChatGPT Plus

Use ChatGPT on the web with a Plus or Pro plan. Paste the vault address we emailed you. Sign in when ChatGPT asks. Free ChatGPT cannot add a custom vault.

What you need

  • ChatGPT Plus or Pro, in a browser — not the phone app for this step.
  • Your vault address (it looks like https://your-name.mcp.artifactum.ai/).
  • If ChatGPT asks for a client ID, use the one we sent with the vault. It is not an access key and it is not secret-looking gibberish you type into git.

Turn on Developer mode

  1. Open chatgpt.com and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings → Security and login (on some accounts this is under Connectors → Advanced).
  3. Turn on Developer mode.

Add your vault

  1. Open chatgpt.com/plugins.
  2. Hit the plus button and create an app.
  3. Paste your vault address. Do not use https://mcp.artifactum.ai/ unless that is the address we actually sent.
  4. Choose sign-in (OAuth).
  5. Open Advanced OAuth settings. Choose User-defined OAuth client. Leave the other two registration options alone.
  6. Paste the client ID we emailed. Copy and paste — do not type it. A wrong letter or an extra hyphen makes sign-in fail with a generic error.
  7. Leave the secret empty. Do not invent one.
  8. Set token endpoint auth method to none.
  9. Leave base scopes as they are. Create the app.
  10. Choose Sign in with Artifactum. Sign in with the email we set up for you. Allow access.

“No app actions available yet” on the app page is normal until sign-in finishes.

Use it in a chat

  1. Start a new chat.
  2. Open the Plus menu, choose Developer mode, and turn your Artifactum app on.
  3. Ask ChatGPT to save a short note into Artifactum.
  4. When it wants to write, ChatGPT will ask you to confirm. Read that prompt.
  5. Open another new chat, enable the same app, and ask for that note by name.

If it comes back, the vault is working — not the old thread. Do not use app.artifactum.ai unless that is the address we actually sent you; Hosted vaults are the private address in the email.

If something fails

If sign-in opens and then says something went wrong, paste the client ID again from the email — don’t retype it. Write hello@artifactum.ai if that still fails. Tell us whether sign-in opened, whether tools appeared, and which model you were on. Do not paste access keys into that email.
